Working with a COUPLES SPECIALIST gives you the BEST CHANCE to heal your relationship so you can feel safer, more trusted and more loved.

“Love me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I really need it.”

My practice is completely focused on serving couples. Working with couples can be challenging and intense when compared to individual counseling. By specializing in couples, I am better equipped to help you.

I have received specialized training in couples therapy as part of my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and Master's in Counseling Psychology (MA). I am also licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and teach marriage therapy to graduate students as an Adjunct Professor.

In order to improve in any area in life, it is important to practice the fundamentals. Most couples think that this doesn't apply to relationships but, actually, it can make a noticable difference.

I have developed a set of exercises for couples that will help you master the fundamentals of healthy lasting relationships. You will be trained on tools that apply directly to your situation. You will also have access to the entire suite of tools to use at your convenience, even after we have ended therapy together.

Many therapists work with you in their office and just hope you can "remember" the experience. With me, you will walk out of my office with clearly explained tasks to attempt on your own. This way you can find out what really works. Couples report that this makes a difference in maintaining their progress over years, not just a few months while in therapy.

I enjoy helping neurodiverse couples find ways to heal and find connection. This is a meaningful part of my practice that requires a deep understanding and appreciation of Aspergers and a specialized approach in working with the couple.

I use scientifically-validated psychotherapy techniques for couples (an integration of Emotion-focused Therapy, Gottman and Imago) which have been proven effective through decades of research with thousands of couples. There are no guarantees but having an experienced couples therapist applying an evidence-based approach gives you a realistic chance to reach your goals.

I am often the third or fourth couples counselor for a couple because I take on "tough" cases that have been difficult for other therapists. In these situations, I work hard to create a safe healing environment so we can productively deal with extremely challenging situations such as a devastating affair, uncontrolled anger, sexual wounding, verbal or physical abuse, harsh co-parenting conflicts, high-intensity arguing, a painful divorce, isolation due to a neurodiverse relationship, and even the loss of a child.

I believe in a loving and just God and am affiliated with the Christian Counseling Center; however, bringing your faith into therapy is COMPLETELY your choice. My aim is to serve you as a trustworthy resource for professional care whether you have a faith background or not.

Being married for 35 years and having raised children to adulthood, my work with you is built upon decades of real life experience, not just textbook knowledge.
