The Golf Lovers Collection

PLAYING IN THE RAIN: I first played golf as a 15 year old boy with my golfing buddy, Howard Sheffield.  We would play every Saturday at the Beaches Golf Course, a public course in Jacksonville, Florida.  No lessons, no parents, and no supervision were involved.  It was two teenagers out for a good time.  Without fail, the skies would open and we'd be drenched before we could reach cover.  It was a refreshing way to get cool.  Yet, in an hour, the clouds would disappear and we were back on the course.  "Playing In The Rain" reconnects us to those fond memories of when you played for the joy of it, not caring about the conditions.

BEHIND THE GOLF SERIES: The game of golf is so simple, using a stick to hit a ball in a hole. Yet, this game is one of the greatest mind games ever invented. It causes the golfer to display every possible human emotion. First, it humbles all who play. It occasionally rewards with a perfect shot, but then reminds you of your many shortcomings. It is this human drama inherent in the game that draws me as an artist. If I can capture just a fraction of the passion and frustration that exist on the golf course, than I am successful as a sculptor.
